While winter storms rage outside, there are more favourable conditions here at Steinprent among Marius Olsen’s new works of art. It’s been two years since he last exhibited here and it’s exciting to see what Marius brings to the table from Finland and what he’s gained from working here in the workshop – it’s not a little bit of woodcuts, etchings, lithographs and mixed media prints. The prints are typical of the artist in that they are colourful, simple and at the same time unique and complex. In these pictures, nature is described intimately with bright light and backlight, but it is as if the beauty of nature is seen with a double gaze, which is both joyful and sad at the same time. Marius Olsen is considered one of our best artists and he is one of the few who has artistically dedicated himself to graphics and who works as a graphic artist part-time.Therefore, he is technically particularly well placed to put his ideas into practice. This year Marius Olsen has collaborated with Jan Andersson and with Steinprent for no fewer than 30 years. If you are so lucky to have been present while Marius has been working in the workshop, you have experienced the special excitement that prevails just before the last printing round, when the last color completes the print. It is fantastic and never accidentally marked by this otherwise sovereign technically competent and experienced artist.
